Still wasn't feeling all that great but got up and went to get some food - plus had to move hotels etc as Manisha was arriving! Yay, my first visitor!!!
I stored my stuff in Jen's room, then we went out for some breakfast. Had a little walk around and saw a place where there were a lot of tourists eating. Were about to sit down, and saw a cockroach! Great, moved seats. Ordered our food, then saw a rat. Even better! Made me feel oh so much better. The waitress just laughed and the guy behind us (a Polish guy working in Detroit) said that it was fine, the food was good, so not to worry. Ate my food once it came - was fine, nothing particularly special. All throughout the meal people from the streets came along to sell us stuff - ranging from fake Gucci wallets to books to bracelets. Did a few bits and pieces, checked out the train prices but went back to the hotel as was feeling really ill.
About 3pm, decided that I should go and check into my hotel, to avoid the taxi scam again, got the hotel to call a cab company for me. This time got a proper metered taxi which only charged me 18,000Dong for a 10minute journey. Got to the hotel, and fell in love with it straight away. The door man was very nice - even though I looked like a mess with my big backpack and messy clothes! Checked in, the trainee was very nice and showed me to my room, was total luxuary!!! The room was very posh and we had a room looking onto the pool! Very nice and not generally used to that sort of thing, especially on this trip! Went to Pho Oso as it was really close, had some Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) - just went for the veggie option. Was very nice. Headed back to the hotel and chilled out till Manisha arrived!
Got a call from reception- Manisha was in the building! Yay. Wasn't entirely sure if I was supposed to go and collect her or if they were bringing her up (I had both keys) so not sure what they wanted me to do. Got to the lift, and there she was. Was very happy to have her there. Manisha settled in and then we went for some food. Went to a place called Jaspers and had some prawn noodles (they were supposed to be spicy, but they weren't). Got back to the hotel and just chilled out with Manisha and caught up - was nice to have my big sis there!
