Little Chloe's intrepid traveller guide!
HELLO everyone! Hope all is well in the land of norwich.
ANOTHER gorgeous day here in mendoza, sickening i know!
Past couple of days have been a bit crazY! Friday, as soon as i arrived i met some really cool people who were staying in my room, and ended up going out on this tour with them to the bodegas (wineries and vineyards). Was quite interesting to look round, but better to drink the wine!! Have decided that my current favourite wine is Malbec! Then we went off to a random olive oil and olive place. Have also now developed a bit of a liking for olives- mum, you would be proud! Then we were off to another bodega for some more wine tasting, never too much! And finally we ended with some history at the oldest church in Mendoza. Is actually quite amazing as Mendoza was hit really badly by an earthquake in 1861, and everything in the whole town was destroyed apart from the church . . spooky.
We all went out for dinner at a random restaurant, and then went out for drinks, except i kept nodding off at the table, so we decided to go home! Saturday, i ended up going with the friends i met the day before to do rafting. We ended up hiring a car-random i know, but altogether it was only 150 pesos= 30 pounds!crazy . .So we drove up to the rafting place (me, antoine, jean-phillipe and jonno) and managed to get one for 30mins after we arrived! Was slightly scared in that i have never done white water rafting before, and we were gonna be doing grade 3/4, (5 being the highest tourists can do)!! Was absolutely amazing though, we did it in this valley, surrounded by these huge mountains, and the water looked like a milky chocolate colour, with just these huge currents and waves! - Will hopefully post some photos within the next week. Of course i fell in . . . i knew it would happen! Out of about 8 different boats i think i was one of 3 to fall in! Was v.scary tho, the currents so strong when your underneath, lost one flip flop amongst the drama!
But the guide just hoiked me up by the shoulders and dragged me back on again, gasping!!
At the end, was a bit rubbish as i only had one flip flop, but a guy found a different one and we swapped! So now i still only had one flip flop but in a different colour?! But then much to my suprise, another guide found another flip almost exactly the same!So at the moment im wearing someone elses! I knew my lack of concern for hygiene would come in handy someday! Then we drove off to see this bridge near the border with chile, it took like 2 hours to get there, and when we did, we found out we couldnt walk on it!!so we drove back again!
Went out last night, ( me, elod- dont know how u spell it but hes from norway and great fun, jonno, antoine and jean philipe!) didnt stay out too late tho, back about 3/4 - early for argentinians. Was a good night tho! Jea phillipe was sick in the taxi on the way back, and no-one even noticed!! I was so drunk that as i left the taxi i just said 'someones been sick!' Completely oblivious to the fact that it was any of us! Random . . !
Had a lazy day today, went to a gorgeous park, and went for a walk around. Might be going paragliding tomorrow!!!! Says the girl who wont even get on a plane without a jar of diazepam!!!!!!!!!!
Much love to everyone,
Chloe xXxxxxxXx
