We have adopted three new friends who are from Australia- Will, Vinnie and Vince who we met on a night out. They're a fantastic group of guys who are really looking after us, great fun and taking us rock climbing... We got a pick up truck to the bottom of the mountains and walked to the cliff face which we were going to attempt to climb. After sorting out all our gear I was the first one up. It was so terrifying! You have to put so much trust in your partner and the rope and there are points where you feel like there is no possible way of making the next move up the face as some of the holes are so small or out of reach. After a few climbs I started to get more confident and realised how fantastic climbing is. The views from the top of the climbs....when I made it to the top, were incredible all you can see are mountains, valleys and beautiful trees. The place where we climbed was all voluntarily done by a local for climbers. He's made little wooden seats in trees and mini shacks for eating in the shade. As there were 5 of us there was a lot of time in between climbs, so we'd often play guitar, go on a trek to find food for everyone or sit in the trees looking over the mountains. The one thing I noticed about where we were was the silence...all you can hear are birds, cockroaches and the occassional scream of someone slipping, it's absolute bliss.
