And so the trip begins...I've been in Bangkok for a day and a half and wow is vibrant. Full of smells, colour and smiling faces. So far we've been surrounded by giant lizards on a lake, had a few tuk tuk rides, eaten some amazingly fresh and spicy food and met some interesting characters...its all very exciting. At the moment we are in a very touristy part of town, there's every nationality roaming the streets. The streets are very windy and small and full of hidden away treats where you can escape the endless westeners. We found one bar in particular which was fantastic. Bombay Blues was covered in red silk canopies, big cushions for you to sit on, low hand made wooden tables and smiling staff. Here you can smoke cherry sheesha, play connect four and eat chocolate bread, which in our case was complimentary. Sitting out on the balcony under the stars with enchanting indian music, in thailand was defo a new experience, but a great one.
The last couple of days have been crazy, lots of travelling and meeting new people. We caught a train and then a bus to Chang Mai (where we are now) the train left the station an hour later than it should and so did the bus...they're very laid back here lol. Chang Mai is very nice, the people are wonderful, so friendly and smiley-after all it is the land of the smile. Last night once we had arrived we went and met up with one of the bouncers from moles (a club in Bath) so random. He's here with his girlfriend and as we were arriving late Dang (his gf) got us a room for the night so we had somewhere to stay when we arrived. Then we went to this bar called the Changi Mai saloon. We met lots of other travellers, from australia, germany, holland and some lovely staff. Once their bar closed at 2am they took all of us on their motor bikes to another bar that's open later. It was so much fun, we did the limbo (my fav hehe) and danced all night until 5.30am. Today we got up late and then had a wonder around the town, we found his amazing restaurant with really healthy food, low seating, big wooden tables surrounded by tropical plants and insense. The food was incredible, so healthy and fresh. We ended up staying there for about 4hours as we ordered so many dishes (thinking they'd be small tapas size)...we have now grown a dress size i think lol. We've just had a walk around the night bizarre and i want everything lol, so many beautiful bags and necklaces etc, but you'll be very proud of me I havent bought a thing since ive been here :)
