We left Bangkok early in the evening to go to catch the overnight train down to Surat Thani. The train journey was an experience, about an hour into the 12 hours the train stopped and a cockroach flew in my window and landed on my face as I brushed it off it went down my top, I jumped up and yelped trying to get it out, catching everyones attention. The thai guard thought it was very funny, but it didn't make the next 11 hours any more relaxing though I did get some sleep. We arrived very early in the morning and drove to Koh Sak national park, we got a boat for an hour up the lake and went for a swim which was beautiful. After this we jumped back on the boat and headed for the floating bungalows. We got a buffet lunch served for us and chilled for the rest of the day, absolutly miles from civilization, making a change from Bangkok.
We got served tea, which was fish that the family who owed the bungalows had been out and caught for us along with traditional thai dishes. At night it was amazing when the lights went off and we had latterns to see around. It was a bit scary to sleep as of all the wildlife and could here frogs and geckos through the night.
In the morning after breakfast we spent the rest of the day travelling to Koh Phangan. We got checked into the hostel and on the evening we went for a meal then onto the beach where there is a strip of bars along the beach selling buckets of vodka redbull for 100 bhat, 200 bhat cheaper than Bangkok. This is where the Full Moon Party's take place and every night is a party and very lively but it is a great atmosphere.
On Friday we got a boat and went out to the beaches around Koh Phangan and did a bit of snorkelling. And on Saturday we went elephant trekking and at the place they had a pet monkey who's best friend is a small cat, this was funny to watch as the monkey cuddled the cat and picked at his furr. After I had a swedish massage that was like heaven for an hour. This was the last evening with Thaintro so we went for a farewell dinner and then to the beach for a party.
Today is a chill out day after a hectic but absolutly amazing week I will never forget and tomorrow about 9 of is travel to Koh Tao, the island next door.
