I'm quickly writing this out now as I am unsure after today when I will be able to get back online. Anyway on Sunday I did my first bit of haggling as I needed some walking sandles, I managed to get them down from 200 bhat to 160 and the seller even put them on for me as I got my money ready so not bad for a first time.
By breakfast time on Monday morning our group had grown to 21 members plus 2 group leaders, so alot of getting to know you's for that day. We started off with a river cruise and we went through little villages with houses built on stilts all down the river. We also seen ladies in little boats with food, probly to sell and men fishing. What was fasinating was the river dragons that we would occassionly see and they'd get pointed out to us by anyone that saw one. I was shocked to see one that looked the size of a crocodile, as was everyone else. We stopped along the way to feed the fish before getting off at the first temple.
The first temple we got to walk up it to about half way but it was very steep, it was made from ancient chinese vases in 1809. We also visited the reclining Budda, I have seen photos of this before but but I was shocked as to how big it actually is in real life. After this one we went to the oldest temple in Thailand. We had a tour guide who called himself James Bond, he was very funny. We learnt that there are 35,000 temples in Thailand and 350 of them are in Bangkok. We got to see all the different budda's and learnt alot about them, The different buddda's have different positions and represent something different for the day you were born on. Sunday, was mine this is the meditating standing budda and means I am a good planner.
So after this day out I was feeling tired but we went for a meal and then on to drinks on the Kaoh San Road. We were outside drinking at a bar and it started to rain, thunder and lightening started before it got torrential. We ended up in a club which I liked and it played good music.
Today, Thuesday we visited the Grand palace which was also interesting to walk around.
I uploaded photos yesterday but it took me two hours to work it out and it took ages, they have gotten muddled up and I won't be able to sort them as it takes too long. I apologise and will get it right next time I get some up :-)
We are about to leave on an overnight train down to Koh Sok national park and it'll be 12 hours before we get there. eek.
