Where in the World is Dan O?
Taveling to Ireland was tiring.
So first on the plane rides were not as troublesome than getting to Denmark, but it was compact becasue it was Ryanair. I did not take my computer so I am writing you from our great hostel in Dublin, Ireland. The reasons for not bringing our laptops was the fear of not being able to bring them aboard the planes in london. Once in london we realized that we could use electronics on the planes. Oh well, for the best i guess.
Once in Ireland we caught a bus to our hostel in dublin. This hostel is one of the best places I have stayed in. Not the best but very close. Plus its right next to the bars. The past two days have been a wirlwind of sites. We have seen most of what there has to see here and we have one more day here. So I believe we will take it easy from this point on.
What we saw:
Guiness storehouse: AMAZING! We spent 4-5 hours in the storehouse learning everything that needs to be known about brewing guiness. I can see why my brother and dad love this place. Free pint, plus samples made my day. It will be a day I will not forget especially because of the line waiting to get into the storehouse. When we arrived, there was a bit of sushine out on the town, but there was a big dark cloud approaching pretty fast. Low and behold it not only rains but downpoors on us while in line. Alie ran for cover while I had to save our precious place in line in the rain. I must say that Irish rain seems a lot thicker than oregon rain. in a matter of 10 minutes I was soaked to the bone. ALL FOR THE LOVE OF GUINESS!
Trinity College: Very interesting college where the book of kells is stored. This is an amazing place. We bought tickets for the tour and I was amazed to see the ancient book of kells. absolutly astonishing. Afterwards we visited the library of trinity college. Juan, You would have loved this place, about 100 yards long, 2 stories, and all filled with knowledge!
Shopping: We stumbled on the street fair and walking shops of Dublin. This was such a fun place. We spent hours just people watching as well as doing some shopping of our own. There are a lot of tourist here.
Bars: we coughed up the money to go on the musical pub crawl. Drinking guiness while listening to authentic irish songs could not have been beat. Noxid Pub Crawl has been started here in Dublin and I am calling the rest of Noxid house to come and continue the pub crawl! After 3-4 bars with the musical group we went on some more bars but were disappointed by the 2 facts. 1) We were standing in bars very simular to ones in america. 2) We felt like the youngest people there. So we went searching for more authentic irish pubs but with no avail. We need to get outside dublin people say. Oh well.
Well I have a minute left on my phone/web card. So i say goodbye for now and will continue my update when I can change more money. We leave on monday for Greace which the weather should be a bit more sunny. Stay safe everyone and I will talk to you soon
