Hi folks. Did you miss me? Have now arrived in Marla which is the end of the Oodnadatta Track. Marla also has a signal! No dramas over the past 4 days except the bloody flies were horrendous. It bears repeating - the bloody flies were horrendous!
The Track took us through all those towns which prospered during the time of the old Ghan. Now, some are ghost towns & all are struggling. Camped at Farina (pop'n 1 or 2 & a great underground bakery open part-time), Coward Springs (pop'n 2 & a great natural spring to get away from the bloody flies & heat), Lake Eyre (tough during the day but magical after dark - see pic) & Oodnadatta (where the flies run the town). Notwithstanding the flies, the history of the towns along the Oodnadatta Track, from Marree to Oodnadatta is fascinating & sad as their reason for existence was taken away.
Tomorrow we head up the Stuart Highway towards Alice and all the wonders that await us there.

Toby I have never known flies to worry a lizard, what's wrong with that amazing tongue of yours Al. Ps. Quitting work today. Looks like your having a great time you lucky b******s, apart from the flies. Tie a dead rabbit to a20 ft piece of rope and attach to bumper , that should do the trick. Toby
