Hello!!
We arrived in a small little town of Hervey Bay in preparation to complete a Fraser Island Adventure tour. This involved 3 days and 2nights of camping and driving off road in a 4 by 4 on the worlds largest sand island. There were 11 people in the car/team but only four drivers. Everyone was very impressed with Jess's off road driving as she was the only female driver (and only nearly managed to crash once!) There was no way I was driving no matter how hard I pleaded!!!
The first day we drove to Lake McKenzie this was a beautiful fresh water lake with pearly white sand, then we went to Lake Birrabeam. We also visited Elli Creek which you can float down but the creek wasnt deep enough. We also visited an old ship wreck for a few pics and then headed off to set up camp had a great BBQ and got completely off our faces!
The second we got up too late so we took a chance and drove when the tide was high to Indian head, luckily we didnt get stuck in the soft sand. We didnt spot any sharks or dolphins at Indian head! We then took a long hike to the Champange pools(at high tide the water bubbles over the rock pool and looks like Champange) However because we woke up too late there were no bubbles!
We then took another walk to the Rainbow Gauge, this was a massive sand gauge withe huge sand dunes made from lots of colours. That night everyone went to bed pretty early as they were still hungover from the previous night. Myself and Jess got woken up several times in the night by Dingos pawing at our feet ind sniffing our heads. We were really scared as they kept circulating and sitting on the tent until it started to cave in. It was pouring with rain and we didnt know what to do.So we just huddled together in the middle. Loosers!!!
The next day we packed up the tents at 6am, whilst moaning about the dingo's and headed off to Lake Wabby, this was green lake that had abig sand dune that you could run into it. The Lake was full of cat fish, turtles and snakes but people were glad to get in to cool off. We headed again to lake McKenzie but it rained. Once we got back to our hostel we checked off all the camping gear and the 4by4 in order to get our bonds back. The whole team went out for a BYO Chinese and headed to the club after. Fraser Island was really good if you like sand, we ate it for breakfast, dinner and tea cos of the wind, spiders and dingos. We had a great group which made it a lot of fun.
lots of love Faye and Jess ( and Tommy and Team D!!!)
