After our trekking tour we decided to take a well deserved break and headed up the east coast to Byron Bay where Tommy also decided to join us and travel with us for a few weeks. WE got there and loved it so much we ended up staying for ten days! The first night was the start of many drunken nights dancing on the tables in cheeky monkeys! WE stayed at a fantastic hostel and met loads of people. We randomly bumped into two friends from Wrexham Claire and Gemma. WE spent a few days catching up with them. WE walked to the lighthouse which is the most eastern point of oz. Australia Day was also spent in byron, we got a picnic and had beers on the beach. There were bands playing and free brekkie.
We also did a day tour of Nimbin which is a small village supposedly the oz version of amsterdam, just without the red light distrtct! ITs full of hippies, smoking pot and making hash cookies! THis trip inclded a barbie and a swim in a natural lagoon.
The highlight of Byron was the range of people we met. There were Canadians, french swedish plus many more! Some of them we've met up with since!
