christmas eve - Headed to paracas today where we spent xmas eve. In Peru they have Chirstmas on Christmas eve so we had turkey, salad and rice at night time followed by panattone and cinnamon hot chocolate, which is a traditional Peruvian Christmas dinner. Before dinnre our group all went out for a Pisco sour which was nice and got to all chat a bit. Another part of Peruvian celebrations are fire works so these were goung off almost all night!
Christmas day - Feliz Navidad! Today was awesome...I had such a packed out xmas day. In the morning we got up early and went on a boat trip to hte Ballestos Islands where we saw loads of animlas - penguins, pelicans, sea lions, peruvian boobies and illions of other birds was cool.
At lunch we headed to the near town of Pisco - the region where the alcohol Pisco origintes from. We looked around a winery and tasted all the different Pisco´s ..felt a bit merry after lots of 40% shots before lunch! We ate at the winery afterwardsand discovrd a new drink (non alcoholic) called Chicha Morada - that is made from purple corn..its delicious!
Then we went to Huacachina Oasis in the afternoon for sandboarding. It was awsome, the best $50 i´ve spent so far..you get a 4X4 buggy ride thrown in for free where the driver is pretty crzy and drives like a mentalist around the dunes it was like being on a rollercoaster! Once at the top we did sandboarding where you like on a board thats like a snowboard size/shape and go flying down the dunes! We had 3 runs, the first wasn´t to steep, the 2nd was almost vertical then hte third had a ledge half way down so you didnt know what was coming..but it was brilliant, loved every minute of it!
In the evening we headed over to Nazca. My internet timeis up now so will fill you all in on the rest as soon as I can get on again. I have lots mor to write and millions of picure to upload! muchos love xxx
