Hey everybody
So yes, unfortunately, Australia has been completed, and i am now in Thailand. Thats not to say i'm gutted to be here, it's just that 8 weeks has flown by, and Australia has been an amazing experience. But i am eager to hit Thailand hard with my good chums Snins and Ben, so it will be party party party (but lets be honest, what do you expect us to do!)
So i am now at my hotel, waiting for Snins to arrive in about 2 hours time. I got here at 11ish last night from Australia, after a 9 hour flight. I hadn't planned things very well, it must be said, as i completely forgot to appreciate the language barrier i would come up against. Having written down my hotel name and address, i had hoped this would be enough to secure me an easy taxi journey the 5 minutes or so that the Yamato hotel seemed ot be from the airport. No such luck. The address might as well have been ritten in Marshian, cos the Thai taxi drivers just looked at me with that blank stare. "I know", i thought, "I'll try the old Brit on tour thing and just say exactly the same thing i just said to him, but this time louder so he can hear me all the more clearly"! Again, nothing! So what do i do? After a mini conference in which 10 taxi drivers all come up, one of the signals to me to hop in an go! So i do, not sure what i going to happen! I ha a rough idea of where i thought the hotel was, out the airport, turn right, head about 4k's down and take a left. Well that 4k's turned into about 50!!! And the road was actually a bleeding motorway! Ha Ha Ha (nervous laugh).
Anyway, i got here and i'm safe, i'm sure you'll all appreciate that fact! So got up this morning for my breakfast - DODGE - and will be leaving in a sec for the airport.
So with Australia done i just thought i'd let you know what i enjoyed the most. I'd have to say Fraser Island was the single most enjoyable experience, i wouldn't change it for the world! One of the most beautiful places in the world, and it was just a brilliant time. However, all of Australia has been great - from the snake down the shorts at the Croc Farm, to the Scuba diving on the reef; from the pink florecent topless car on Maggie Island, to the 5 star club class car that i hired with Nod; from sitting in the Woolshed in Cairns, to sitting in the Sydney Opera house watching the orchestra do their thing! It has all been brilliant. I think a lot of people, me included, were worried about what it might be like for me to go travelling on my own on the other side of the world, but i think you just have to get out there and do it! Nothing is going to happen for you unless you make it happen, and thats what i have tried to do throughout my travels so far. I mean i've seen enough culture, and gone on enough walks, to keep mum happy till the cows come home!!!
So really, if you haven't been to Oz, GO! Or if your thinking about going anywhere else, and are sitting on the fence, JUST GO!! What have you got to loose. At the end of the day, England is only a plane journey home!
Love to all, and i'll speak to you soon
xx
