Hue Wed 4.12.19 - Thu 5.12.19
Arrived late morning by plane from Hanoi which took about 50 mins. Once we checked in we went for lunch with everyone. We then walked around Dong Ba market - lots of interesting fruit and veg including the most enormous carrots and very stinky durian! Dinner by the river at Viet Village - the caramelised tofu and aubergine was amazing. Hue was the old capital city until 1945 and seat of the Nguyen dynasty. It’s home to The Imperial City (it’s their version of the Forbidden City) which unfortunately was badly damaged during the Vietnam War. It’s still an interesting place to visit. In the afternoon we headed out of the city to visit the tombs of three emperors of the Nguyen dynasty: Minh Mang, Khai Dinh and Tu Duc. All quite different but all very grand. Very impressive.
