The adventures of Feather
So no visit to LA would be complete without a tour of good old Hollywood and some serious star stalking, sorry spotting. So myself and my new friend, Katie Holmes, boarded a comedy tour bus and headed into the Californian sun. Driving along the Santa Monica beach the driver cranked up the theme tune to Baywatch and started shouting Pammy, Pammy, where's Mitch out the window! oh dear, we were on the crazy bus! From there we headed up into the Hollywood hills, catching our first glimpse of that famous sign, albeit a bit crooked and underwhelmingly dirty on the hillside. The Hollywood hills basically consist of famous and rich people's houses, including Leo De Caprio, Cher, Jack Nicholson- with a tennis court on stilts, Nicholas Cage, Elton John-ribbons all over his gates!, Jim Cary, Ben Affleck, J Lo.. and on and on. I took so many photos of houses i now have no idea whose is whose, is that Burt Reynolds beamer in that drive or Julie Roberts'? Anyway was fun being tourist and getting a taste of what it would be like to live here as a proper celebrity type. Through Beverly Hills and Bel Air with more of the same, glorious houses, beautiful lawns, helicopter 24 hour security, past the school where Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie went, complete with valet parking ! and on to Rodeo Drive. What a fabulous place, if i had a spare million dollars to spend on a pair of socks. Ridiculously over priced, ridiculous people with Californian super tans and diamonds dazzling you in the sunlight, sports cars everywhere and so much peroxide .. felt quite special with my brunette unruly mop, flip flops and shorts. boho chic direct from London, that's me! From there we hit downtown Hollywood itself where all the films were made, despite its rather grimy and ordianry appearance, all the stars along the street and the history of film making and all the greats who had worked and gone out round here made it special. Marilyn Monroe and Joe D'Magio went on their first date in that bar there, Charlie Chaplin owned that theatre, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra used to drink there. The Viper room where River Phoneix died, hotel where Janis Joplin died..Of course it could all be lies but it inspired me and seeing all the handprints- again of all the old greats was wondeful. Oh and having my picture taken with Batman too.. he's a big man you know!
