Today Faz and I were left to our own devices as John hadbeen invited to a sushi party by ones of his friends so we decided to walk back to Hakkeijima Sea Paradise. The walk tool around an hour with a small stop off at a temple on the way. When we got to the island we decided to take our shoes off and wander along the beach to Sea Paradise. It was a really sunny day though and the sand was far too hot to walk on in barefoot. Instead we walked down to the sea and paddled along the shore.
In Sea Paradise we saw a dolphin show which was amazing. We saw dolphins, penguins, sea lions and sea cows performing and they are all so amazingly clever! The show was brilliant. After the show we looked around the aqua museum went to dolphin fantasy which is a glass tunnel where dolphins swim all around you. Looking up and seeing dolphins swimming right above your head is pretty awesome. We took so many photos but none of them really capture the experience at all.
After going on the rapids next door (I got COMPLETELY soaked and Faz got a wet knee) we went to a new feature at Sea Paradise where you can touch the animals. I absolutely love dolphins and my main aim was to stroke one, but I think after a busy day they were all tired of being touched and didn't want to come too near. They did perform a bit for us though, swimming round and round really close and diving up in the air. One splashed me with his tail. Faz was in the right place at the right time when the whales decided the play for a while a got to stroke one. We both got to stroke a penguin and I got bitten by it. The handler spoke English and told me that in Japan if something bites you you get to keep it! I somehow didn't think I would get a penguin through customs so I turned down the 'present', even though it was amazingly cute. Instead he brought it closer so that I could have a proper stroke. I also took the opportunity to scold the penguin by pointing and saying 'naughty', which I think most of the Japanese people around us understood because they started laughing.
We went on a few more rides, including the pirate ship 4 times which I had told Faz she would never get me on, then headed back to Kamazawa Bunko. When we got back just after 9 all the restaurants were closed and John was still at his sushi party, so it was good old McDonalds for dinner as most of them are open 24/7 here!
