I am indeed alive, and rather well with it.
Did the classic taxi journey into Mumbai - no wing mirrors let alone seatbelts, roof just mms from my head, weaving in and out downt the laneless roads, stayed overnight in an alright hotel, then caught the early train to Goa!
The journey was surprisingly fine, carriage was pretty empty though so not at all cramped. Hopped of a Thivim thanks to some consulation with the ticket inspector via the helpful indian couple sharing my compartment, and taxi took me to a pretty good hotel in Calangute - its a Thomas Cook!! On the expensive side for india but at 9 pounds for a massive AC room with hot water, balcony, minibar (fully stocked with bacardi breezers!) and pool I think it'll be fine.
Pondering whether to move on tomorrow - sunbathing is normally acceptable but the place is full of indians and im not sunbathing on my own! But not sure if its different anywhere else so yep.
Have survived a number of indian meals now, huzzah! Started with a thali in mumbai, which was a platter of small things some tasty some quite repulsive. Last night was a veg jalfrezi (sp?) and i've also had some tasty (but chilly) noodles.
So yes, still alive, safely consuming food and no nervous breakdown as of yet.
Hope you are well!
