Hello! Do apologise for the random pictures, this silly website won't let you post without a picture attached!
I greet you from Margao, a railway hub and town south of Panjim. I arrived via public bus, which was fine...once I found it! Although Goa is a tourist destination, its not geared that way, so no signs to the ticket counter, no guidance as to which direction you should wander to find your bus... but even so I hopped on, everyone sweezed in (full load), but not as uncomfortable as you might think since the numerous open windows provide a wind tunnel effect.
I am staying in the Margao Residency, which is a government run "tourist hotel". Its not that great, shabbier than many other places, but its AC ensuite, clean and guarded (no guns on display this time though) and in the centre of the town. And less than a tenner.
I further splashed out on lunch - dived into a verry local place just off the market, had a bhaji puri which was a veg curry with puffy bread things. Which was quite hot for me but managed it with the aid of my trusty friend mr pineapple juice. Which was 55 rupees.
Also apologise if this doesn't make any sense as for some reason the writing's really small and I can't read what I have typed (pretty good excuse I thought). Already scoped somewhere for dinner, should be good! I'm off to find the "golden heart emporium" or in englidh the bookstaore. Still looking for a cheap cheese and onion!
Hope you are all well!
