I left Ming Shou at 9.30am Saturday morning and wheeled my case round to Phuket Backpacker Hostel. The GVI Conservation Coordinator, Jolyon met me at 10.00 and he had breakfast whilst we went through a whole load of risk assessments. We left about 11am and then went to Tesco Lotus to pick up some food supplies for Base. When we arrived an hour and a half later another lady called Laura went with us to the local restaurant to have lunch. Laura is another GVI staff member and for the last two weeks has been ill with dengue fever but is now on the mend after a short time in hospital. We then went back to base at 3pm where I was shown around by Martyna. I was shown around the accommodation, met a few of the other volunteers, had fire safety training and watched a presentation video all about GVI. At about 6pm another volunteer, a young lad called Theo, wheeled my case round to the Refuge Centre a five minute walk from the GVI house where they had a few guest rooms. I checked in to room 102. It has it's own bathroom and air conditioning. I had a cool shower, took a sleeping pill and went to bed.
