Here i am in BA again. Yesterday i woke up early and had breakfast with Laura. I gave her the money for the room and walked down to the bus station. When i got there i showed my ticket for Puno and was told that the agent had not booked me a seat. The girl doing the tickets said that i could sit witht the bus driver. We then watched the driver and his sidekick put petrol in the bus. This was done by the driver leaning out of the window and the other guy passing him the container of petrol so that he could hold it while the other guy sucksthe petrol out through a hose then puts the hose in the petrol tank. They did this with 3 containers!! When the time came to go i was given a bench and a blanket. I was told to sit in the aisle on the bench and to put the blanket on it, i guess to stop me getting a sore bum!!
I had started chatting to another guy who was on the bus earlier and he introduced me to another Australian family. The couple had 2 young children (8 & 9). They took pity on me and got one of the kids to sit on his dad´s lap so that i could have a seat. I was very grateful!
The couple are missionaries and live in Venezuela. They are currently on holiday. I had a good chat with the Marianne during the 3 hr trip.
When we got to Puno i said goodbye to them. I was halfway through my lunch when they turned up at the restaurant so we had lunch together before i left to go to the internet.
Then i went to the hostel and got my luggage out of storage and waited for my taxi. It was actually a minivan that picks up people from differnt places and bring them to the airport. The driver was taking his time and i started stressing that i would miss my flight. We got to the airport on time and i caught my flight to Lima. At the airport in Lima i got my baggage and checked in for my international flight to Santiago. I asked for my luggage to go straight to Argentina but they could not do this. That meant that when i got to Santiago i had to go through immigration and customs to pick up my luggage. Because it was 2.30am the airport was closed so i had to wait in the waiting area. I fell asleep for about an hour on the bench. Check in opened at 5am thank goodness.
I got to BA at 10.30am, an hr late as we were delayed in Santiago due to paperwork problems!? I didn´t notice because i fell asleeep as soon as i got on the plane.
When i got to BA i came to my hostel and found that i had to bring my luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Now my mainn luggage is 21kgs. Plus i had my backpack which weighed at least 10kgs. Plus another bag. By the time i got to my room i was sweating sooooo much. Especially since it´s hot and humid here. I had no choice but to take a mixed dorm room as all other places are booked.
It was 2pm by then. No one was in the dorm. I had a shower then went to theshops. I went to Abasto shopping centre. I didn´t buy much, only a bigger bag to use as my carry-on luggage. Then i went to Patio Bullrich shopping centre and did some shopping there. Nothing serious though!
I came back to the hostel and started repacking my bags. I leave for Iguassu Falls tomorrow. I will spend New Year there and come back on the 2nd Jan. I met a couple of the fgirls sharing the dorm. Thank goodness for that.
Then i went to Calle Florida where i had dinner in the shopping center, Gallerio Pacifico. ´Came back to hostel at 10.30pm and came to update my blog....
