Best night sleep in ages and on a bus! Went to the nicest Scandinavian Bakery for berkkie then got the 'VIP' bus from Vientiane to Vang Vieng. One of the fans caught fire on the bus apart from that the journey was ok. Beautiful scenery through the lime-stone hills and found a cheap and cheerful guest house when we arrived and soon after an Irish Bar for a few beers and games of pool.

Caught a Tuk Tuk up river, gel shoes on and tube on the roof. We got straight in and narrowly avoided being hit over the head by a bottle attached to a rope that the bar owners use to pull you over to their bar. We drifted downstream for about an hour then pulled in to have a go on a rope swing over the river. Back on the river it got much calmer and apart from a few kyakers who soaked us as they went past we only saw locals which was the idea and had a very peaceful drift downstream, until some local boys from the river bank swam over saying 'Vang Vieng, money', they soon got the message and we found where we needed to stop, walked the few minutes back across a rickity bridge and dropped the tubes back. The idea was to go back up and check out the bars but the bars nearer the town appealed more. We tried one down the road from our guest houseand went for a G+T bucket, they had a game running if you got a bucket you got to roll the die, if you got a 6 it was free a 4/5 it was half price-I got a 5 which made it the same price as a normal glass not quite the same drinking a G+T out of a bucket but got to be done. After a bit of bbq grub we headed to Jaidees, a chilled bar we'd heard of from Jules that sells weed and opium, we had a joint and a cup of 'tea' and all seemed good but after a few hours I started burning up so decided to call it a night. Tom went back to the bar and played pool with Thomas from Germany who really reminded me of the German guy from Coffee Bay 2000.

BAD TIMES, I didn't sleep very well, felt really achy and fluey all night, tried to eat at a restaurant called Jungle but could only manage half a bowl of cornflakes. Ventured out for about half an hour to have a drink with Tom but after a glass of water I needed to lie down again constant feeling that I'm going to be sick. Tom came home and had met an Ozzie couple who know a guy who runs a tree surgery company in Perth, Bonus.
