On our last day in Boston we took Chloe to the airport which I was dreading but I think I had been dreading it so much it wasnt too bad. She managed to get through the gate without either of us crying and then we turned round to walk back to the T and I started greetin almost immediately, thnakgod for sunglasses thats all Im saying! We went n had a few beers and headed for our night bus to Canada.
The journey was not too bad, 7 hours to Montreal, which on first impressions is not a very nice looking city, homeless people galore and lots of begging. Also the people are not very nice and we later found out its because they only like other french ccanadians! What a cheek! We were meant to meet Lana at a junction along the route when we got off our next bus but the guiuy said we were not allowed so i went to get on the bus and call Lana and he started shouting at me that i had to tell him where I was getting off, I was like " I dont know, Ive never been and someone was meant to pick us up" and he was like " I dont care who is picking you up" so after saying bye to my sister, having hardly any sleep on a night bus waking up at 5am to cross the border (which was ok, people were actually nice here, except from the queue skippers) and then having some guy shout at me, I had had enough and had a wee blub on the bus then slept and woke up feeling much better in Ottawa! We saw Lana on the corner but had to get a taxi back to her as we were not allowed off, I dont know why it is on the schedule of the bus if you cant get off with bags but never mind!
So finally we got Lana, which was great as we had not seen her for ages and it was lovely to see her again! We went back to her Mum Molly's house and she was great aswell, as soon as we walked in she gave us "a big canadian welcome" which included a giant cuddle, just what we needed! Staying here generally included eating the entire time which was nice as we had not had a decent feed in ages lol! Molly had everything you could think off, meats, fruit, salads, pasta, salmon and lots of home baking but best of all was the bacon roll with brown sauce and a cup of tea we had on arrival! We pretty much just pottered about and did all our washing and got some beers for Canada day the next day and had our traditional chicken for tea.
Tuesday was Canada Day and we headed to Lana's daughter and son in laws, Shannon and Colin's for the day. After having heard so much about them it was lovely to meet them and of course the new arrival baby Willem, who was just the most gorgeous baby ever, he was smiling all the time, especially when he peed on the rug lol, he is so cute! Of course we were also glad to meet Seamus the great dane who was so gentle, it was lovely to get my dog dose seeing as I am short of one Vinnie here! Shannon and Colin took us on a tour of Ottawa which was such a nice city, lovley architecture and the city was in party mode for Canada day which was lovely to see. Afterwards we headed back to the house for a nice barbie meal and a few beers.
The next day we had to get our bus back to Montreal so we just pottered about in the morning and headed to the bus staion in the afternoon. It was sad saying bye to Lana and Molly after they had made us feel so at home and fed us so continuously! Thankyou Lana, Molly, Shannon and Colin for making us feel so at home, we had a lovely time and hope you'll be over visiting us soon!! Give Willem and Seamus a little hug from us!
We arrived in Montreal and decided to walk to our guest house which was a disaster as we walked past it and with huge bags on it was not a good time but we got there in the end! It was a nice room and we just dumped our bags and headed out for tea. The street St Denis where we were staying was much nicer than the rest of Montreal that we had seen so we were really glad. Although in our search for a cash machine we saw a huge grassy area in the city centre with homeless people all sleeping and getting served food from like a shelter organisation or something, it is really sad to see in a country that is supposedly westernised. We headed out for dinner, which ended up being a bowl of oily pasta and then headed back to watch some trash TV.
Up the next morning and off to Washington Dc on our epic 16 hour train ride, how fun!!
Hope everyone is good and enjoying the blog, its good to get all the comments on our whiteboard!
Lots of Love
