Hi All,
Well here it is the first ever blog entry!
Well we finally started our trip on 21st June after a few emotional farewells and a big delay in London. There was something wrong with our plane so we had to wait on another one, I think I was the only person who was happy to be delayed if it meant getting on a plane that hadnt had a fault lol! The flight was good and then we were delayed again when we landed as another plane was at our gate, then our bus never showed up so we had to fork out for a taxi! It was all worth it though when we saw the Manhattan skyline in the distance and checked into the Waldorf Astoria and got a free room upgrade to a suite!
On the first day we got up early and had a look around Times Square and then went to see The Harlem Gospel Choir which was great, the singing was amazing but so was the laughing at all the phrases..."mmm hmmm thankyou jesus" lol! In the afternoon we hopped on an open top bus and had a look round the sights then we had dinner in an extremely minging italian! I know NYC is full of restaurants but it seemed near impossible to find anything decent to eat! At night we were so knacked me just stayed in and watched a movie!
The next day we got up early and went up The Empire State building but it was a bit cloudy so there was not much to see! We caught the bus down to Battery Park and had a look around and then caught the boat to Liberty Island and went inside the Statue of Liberty and got some photos of the skyline which was stunning. When we crossed back over we had a look at Ground Zero and to the museum dedicated to 9/11 which was really sad and had a wall with all the names and photographs and tributes from people's children and families. It also had lots of things they had found at the site, it was quite surprising how big the site is, its like a giant hole in the middle of a huge metropolis, needless to say i nearly cried! At night we had tickets to see Rent on Broadway...Craig loved it...NOT, he almost fell asleep!
On Tuesday Chloe and I headed off to Woodbury Common on the bus which we nearly missed "...girls, y'late, n then ya go to the wrong gate" ( read in an Italian American accent)! It was really good, cheaper than i thought, I got a Calvin Klien and a DYKY t-shirt and some Guess and Juicy Couture stuff, too much to mention but lets just say i spent a fortune and the months of saving finally paid off lol! While we were here Craig was trying to work the subway and ended up in the pub, surprised...NO! At night Craig and I got all douched up in our gear, Craig in his kilt and me in my bought that day Calvin Klein dress ( it is amazing) and headed to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant at The London, it was so posh! We also saw Jean Christophe from all the GR programmes on TV, our first celebrity yey! We had a nice meal and the service was great although you did pay 3 times the price of elsewhere for a third of the portion size! No need to worry Aunty Betty we are having trouble finding normal portions never mind USA ones!
On Wednesday we got up and headed off to Central Park before I had to go home and change shoes after about half an hour then we couldnt find anything to eat for breakfast so it was not a good start. Everntually we got back to Central Park and had a wee shot in a rowing boat and a lass said "Nice hair", Craig thinks she meant him! Next we headed up 5th Ave where Chloe and I made our Tiffany purchases and got some stuff in Victria's Sectret, H&M and had a look in Macy's and got our famour little brown bags from Bloomingdales and then we got Chloe a new bag to carry back all the new stuff! We had dinner at planet Holywood where Craig and I felt ancient as it was too loud lol! Then we headed back to the hotel to pack!
Today we got the bus to Boston but I'll save that for next time!
Cant believe we are finally away, missing everyone already!
