As you may know, I am not an early bird. I don't rush through morning ablutions and prepping my bulletproof coffee on a ship of any size takes time and coordinator with the bar staff. So when the tour off the ship starts at 8:15, I just can't get ready on time. So instead of joining the tour, we were up top of the ship on the sundeck, wondering what the city looked like away from the river, and two little ladies with canes decided to get off the ship and said why don't you come with us? So we walked off the ship with them, and started taking pictures! Most of the photos are self-explanatory, but the reason I took pictures of plates and cups designed by Britto – he's one of the artists that are most popular in Miami Florida. And Art of course is everywhere. As we did not take a tour, we did not know if spitting boy is the emblem of this particular city, but he does seem to be everywhere. One of the people on our ship passed by and said that we should avoid the wet spot, and I replied that it is generally good advice… After lunch as we cruised the Rhine, we passed amazing scenery and castles. Our cruise director told us that the Rhine is one of the least polluted rivers in Europe. This part of the river is so beautiful and everywhere we looked and there were multiple pictures to take. One of the castles we passed is where Albrecht Dürer stayed many times which inspired his work. 59 fish species, 30 are native. Mosquito eating fish popular Carp, asp popular. 206 an increase of salmon and trout, both freshwater and marine. Also rainbow trout. Invasion of catfish happening in last 5 years. Up to 10 feet and 80 pounds. Catfish have no natural predators here and are slowly replacing the salmon population. On the deck in the warm sun .. decided to try a nap in the cabin. Was awakened by an announcement: merengue class in the lounge!! Okaaay! Dance shoes on! After dance, we had a talk about what to expect tonight and tomorrow, then dinner. We ate at the "special " restaurant which was quite nice, and then had an evening stroll through Rudesheim this evening. We hope to wake up early in order to take the early walking tour tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed!!
