EuroTrip2012
I've been bad about blogging since we arrived in Amsterdam so I'm going to try to do a recap post!
Sunday!
- Train from Marne la Vallée (where Disneyland is), switch in Bruxelles, arrive in Amsterdam around 3.
- Struggle with our insane amount of luggage through the train station. I almost lose it so Winn makes me sit down while he goes to pee and find coffee. I end up talking to an ex-pat for a little while until I'm calm.
- Find a cab, arrive in the rain at the apartment where Adam and Natasha have been waiting for us.
- Meet the neighbor Nancy who lets us in, explains things to us, and then gives us the keys.
- Natasha and I walk in the slight drizzle to a grocery store, loading up on snacks and fruit and bread.
- Hang out at the house a little, unpacking, decompressing, before going out and walking around.
- Find a cool bar Adam had heard about, have a couple drinks.
- I was getting hangry so I found a Tapas bar and we ate some delicious noms.
- I can't remember the rest lol I think we just came home and chilled. Drank some wine.
- Got yelled at by the upstairs neighbor for a misunderstanding.
Monday!
- Adam, Natasha and I went out for a while letting Winn sleep in. Walked around, shopped a bit, walked through the red light distrcit, ate some french fries, took some pix. Went back to the store to get more snacks and STROOPWAFFLES. :)
- The three of them went to another couple special bars while I Went to H&M and had too much fun trying on and buying clothes. :)
- Met up at the Beer Temple which has 30 beers on tap and about 100 others in bottles.
- Fought about where to eat lol
- Came back to the apartment and I stayed to make myself dinner and shower while they went out for Argentinian.
- They came home, Winn crashed, and Adam, Natasha and I watched a crapload of trailers online and drank wine and ate stroopwaffles.
Tuesday!
- Slept in! (We've been getting lots of nice sleep here, it's wonderful!)
- Left Winn at 11:30ish and the three of us youngins walked to the Zoo on the OTHER side of town. Saw a lot of Amsterdam that way, stopped by a market, and then finally made it to the zoo.
- The zoo was awesome! Beautiful and totally worth the trip and the $$. It was much bigger than we had anticipated. I think we were there for nearly 4 hours. Totally recommend this zoo for any people coming to the city. We got to watch the Penguin feeding and the sea lion feeding. There was this one rain forest type exhibit you get to walk through and there were critters (monkeys, birds, tree shrews) literally 2 feet above our heads or right next to us on the ground. So cool.
- Walked back, home by 5:30, feet fell off.
- Snacked, futzed around online, watched a VHS tape of Friends that was here haha.
- I made us dinner, we drank more wine, and watched Dutch TV until we found some stuff in English. We pretty much just hung out enjoying the cool weather, some French wine, some Dutch snacks and waited for Winn to come home.
- When he came home, he and Winn went out while Natasha, who was feeling kind of sick, and I stayed home, watched more TV and eventually went to sleep.
So far Amsterdam has been nice and relaxing. Lots of waffles consumed, lots of snacks, lots of walking. It's a gorgeous city, the weather has been cool and a bit rainy - though yesterday it was sunny and warm. Everyone's been super friendly and speaks English really well. I'm glad we're not being rushed to do a bunch of touristy stuff and just kind of taking the city in little bits at a time. Adam's getting to drink lots of interesting beer and I've been getting to do pretty much what I want so that's fun. :)

Mother I think you coined a new term: hangry. We ALLLLL know what it means, yes? One MUST eat when hungry so that one does not feel angry. If one does NOT eat then one WILL become HANGRY.
Mother Feet uht. Don't wanna go to the moon.
