This day should be called Mission: Abbey Road. For those of you who know my parents and even my little brother, you'd know they L-O-V-E the Beatles. I like them too, don't get me wrong, Sandy is indifferent about them, but for my parents we'd do anything, literally anything like spend a whole day searching for this infamous road. We started the day with brunch, once again provided by Salisbury. Delicious fruits and sandwiches, complimented with delicious water. Can you tell we're on a budget here? Well we weren't complaining because everything and anything we seemed to eat in London was delicious. Can you believe that not only does McDonald's have a different menu, but that the chicken actually tastes like chicken? Yup, weird isn't it? Anyways, we took our brunch to a little park nearby and made sure we sat where the sun was beaming to make it a tad bit warmer. After satisfying our tummies, we headed on out to Abbey Road. We thought we knew where we were going, yet even with the helpful maps that are on just about every corner, we managed to get pretty lost. We made the most of it as we came across the Museum of Natural Science. Let's put it this way, if you are a kid in London with all these huge, interactive museums, you'd most definitely want to learn a lot more. Moving along, we then ended up in London's elite shopping road with Burberry, Chanel, and many other stores you can imagine. My dad had told me about Harrod's, so we went inside to just look around. Harrod's = girl's heaven. Any and every luxurious brand all under one roof. You think Saks is awesome... Not until you walk into Harrod's. We had no clue where we were exactly, but it turned out that we were by Hyde Park, which I had been telling Sandy to go but it was too far. Yeah, that's how much we had walked already. So we walked through Hyde Park. It is enormous!!! By far, the prettiest park where you'll find a lot of people biking in these rental bikes that you can easily rent all over the city, as well as people horseback riding, or just enjoying a stroll in the park, like us. We finally reached the other side of the park and at this point we were extremely hungry and this time we decided to treat ourselves to a good lunch at a restaurant. Sandy had the traditional fish and chips, and I had a slightly spicy chicken with mango chutney, rice, and a pita. No water with this lunch, instead Sandy ordered a Heffe beer and I ordered a Kopparberg, which is a strawberry and lime cider, and the best drink I had in London. Once we filled up our tank and our feet got a well deserved rest, we continued to head on out to continue our mission. At this point we knew where had to make a right, left, go straight, right again, but we just didn't know how far it was. Well let us tell you, it was farrrrr. We found ourselves in a predominantly middle eastern residential neighborhood, then a little bit further was Abbey Road, where tourist literally stop traffic to get a replica of the Beatles' photo. Needless to say we took one in honor of mom, dad, and Sebastian. At this point there was noooo way we were walking all the way back to the hotel so we took a double decker bus. We wanted to do something our last night in London, but were literally already sore from walking so much so we decided to go to a tavern a couple feet away from the hotel. The atmosphere was that of a typical British tavern with a bunch of people both outside and inside. Sandy order a Cuba libre with nothing less than Havana Club, while I stuck to the yummy cider. There was a sign that said there was a bar downstairs, so our adventurous selves decided to head on down. We walked in like no big deal, but immediately felt out of place as everyone greeted us with death stares. Yeah it was a party down there alright... A private party.... 2 minutes of feeling awkward and some guy asked us if we were here for "Louis' birthday" and that was our cue to exit. After that incident we thought we deserved another drink, so we treated ourselves to a Peroni. It was much more expensive than we thought, leaving us with a little over 2£ for breakfast and lunch the next day. So that's what it feels like to be a broke backpacker...
