G'day Folks!
We have touched down in Perth on 13th November and have been on the go ever since, hench the late update on the blog...but do not fear, no news is good news as they say, we are safe and sound and having a bonza time!
As some of you know Lorna's cousin (formally known as Miss. Melanie Norris) got married on the 15th November and Lorna had the honor of being her bridesmaid. So once we had dug our heels down in Perth we headed to our accommodation in Scarbrough where Lorna's family were staying in preparation for the Big Day!
Our first night in Perth was Melanie's Hen Do!!! After scrubbing up and fixing them wigs firmly in place we headed on out. Armed with a champagne glass in one hand and a paint brush in the other we took to our canvas like a duck to water and began drawing the two fit young NAKED men that stood before us (hope you liked your picture Mum- haha). While Auntie Elaine brought round the food asking 'does anyone want a sausage roll', it was such a good giggle!!! Then it was on to the Mexican Resturant for some more drink and some fajitas to soak it up- mmmmmmm! Feeling a little jet lagged i headed on back to the comfort of our luxurous apartments over looking Scarbrough beach, while Miss Peters and the Hen took to the clubs and partyed the night away.
The following day we all headed into the city of Perth where Lorna went with the bride for a wedding rehersal and i went with my extended family to do a spot of shopping and sight seeing. Perth is beautiful city and yet so quaint, with a refreshing laid back vibe and with such friendly people, nothing was too much trouble. Later we chilled out at Kings Park and took in the most amazing views over the city and Swan River.
THE BIG DAY had arrived and what a great wedding. Melanie and Arthur wed in the stunning Chapel at Macades Collegue in a Catholic Ceremony. Both the Bride and Bridesmaid looked Beautiful, with Melaine's dress being a classic shade of Ivory that gently swepted across the floor and Lorna contrasting hers perfectly with fitted dress and bolero in gold. A tear or two was shead in the lovely service as Mr and Mrs Stephenson sealed their vows with a kiss (sniff sniff). After blowing bubbles over the newly weds as they left the chapel, it was on to the vineyards in Darlington for the reception. Where Lorna and had our first taste of Emu which was pretty tasty i must say. Once speachs where completed and our stomaches where full we partied the night away sipping champagne in celebration! We hope the Bride and Groom had a wonderful day with memories they will cheerish forever.
Feeling a little hungover the following day it was off to Rottnest Island for our last day that side of Oz. We spent the day kicking back, relaxing, maxing, it ain't to taxing- booooooh!!! (thought you would like that one Kels, haha!) Where we were lucky enough to spot Quakas, which are very much like baby kangaroos (although they don't belong to the same family) and this is the only place you will find them in the world.
I would personally like to thank Lorna's family for making me feel like part of the crew, we both had a fantastic time! A big thanks to you guys back home too for keeping them messages flooding in. It's always great to hear from you, miss you all tons!
