A BIG hello to all back in Blighty!
Well, it's been a while hasn't it! Miss Peters and I have just been such busy little bees hopping from island to island, soaking up the rays, swimming in crystal clear seas and not to mention raving it up in the jungle- whoop whoop! Aaah it's a hard life, but someone has to do it (hehe)!
Our first stop after Phi Phi was Ao Nang resting on the southern Andaman Coast. This is home to the stunning Raylay Beach nesteled behind limestone cliffs dusted with patches of evergreen. This secluded beach is only acessed by long tail boat, a traditional form of Thai transport. With its honey sands and silk emerald waters it was the perfect setting to spend the day relaxing under the sunshine while we both had a Thai massage from head to toe- pure bliss!
Our next stop was the island of Ko Samui in the lower southern gulf of Thailand. Yet another beautiful island, boasting porcelain beaches and sparking clear green seas. An amazing spot to catch some more rays or float in the ocean gazing into the cloudless sky. Feeling fully energized we took the oppitunitly to hire out a jet ski, this was quality! We both took turns in skiming across the waters and riding through the wash at a speed, what a buzz, have to try our hands at this again! While in Samui we also visited the temple of The Big Budda. This was a great sight to see, this huge golden budda sat proudly overlooking the island. After treking up the many steps the views of the island were pretty amazing from here. By the time the sun had set and the stars were out we headed straight for the nightlife. With beers at 50 baht a pop (1 pound) it was a cheap night out to say the least. We went to a club called the Green Mango which didn't get pumping till around midnight, playing all old school RnB. Lorna and I were able to have a right ol boogie late on into the night! This particular evening, feeling a little worse for ware Lorna managed to convince one of the friendly pancake stall holders to make a pancake, this was well funny, she had me and the gathering crowd in stitches while she impressed us with her pancake skills- nice one!
Koh Pha-nang, known as Ko Samui's little sister was our next stop. By night this island is famous for it's ability to party, hosting the famous Full moon and Half moon Parties. However by day it is a diffrent story, while the rest of the islands visitors were nursing a hangover we manged to find an empty beach a short walk from our accommodation. Yep, not a single soul in sight! Complete with a rope swing that dangled from a slopping tree over the sea, this spot was something else. We didn't miss the oppitunity to spend the day here topping up those tans in the peacful surounding with only the tide sweeping the shore as background noise...But by nightime this island certainly lived up to it's reputation and Lorna and I aren't ones to sit in the background. Decorated in body paints and flashing glasses on we were ready to enter the jungle for the ultimate half moon party rave!!! It was crazy- huge sound system, hundreds of neon flash lights, buckets of vodka red bull and as many ravers you can cram into the Jungle (quite a few)! This was like no rave we have been to before and do you think the rain stopped us that night, of course not we raved the night away till the early hours!
Ko Tao our last island, this was much greener than it's neighouring islands with deep green mountains scattered in swaying palms and a coast lined with huge bolders. Known as scuba divers paradise with it's coral reefs and diving schools on the island. This was a great oppitunity for Lorna to graduate in her PADI and dive to qualify from her adventures to Advanced scuba diver and for me to learn to dive. Unfortunalty i never made it to the sea! I suffered too badly with my ears leaving me in pain under the waters pressure. When you scuba dive your ears are under so much pressure the deeper you go down in the water, even though i was able to equalise, it is was really uncomfortable. It just wasn't for me really, I felt totally out of my comfort zone! But hey, i still passed my enclosed water dive in the swimming pool- haha. Lorna couldn't believe how fantastic the coral was down at 30 meters deep, but was gutted there were no sharks to be seen. She felt right at home getting up close and personal with all them amazing fish again after two years out of the water. A big congratulations is due now she is an Advanced Diver- go on the Peters!
Well we now find ourselves back in Bangkok in preperation for our flight to Oz tomorrow. Can't belive our time in Thailand is nearly at an end. We have had such a fantastic time here and have been lucky enough to see all the places we wanted to visit and more. Although it will be a sad goodbye, our adventure does not end here.
Thank you for all your messages, great hearing from you as always, please keep them coming. Loads of Love- The Essex Girls x x x x
