Merry Christmas & A very Happy New Year!!!!
Its hard to believe that another Christmas has been and gone away from family and friends but we want to say a HUGE thankyou to everyone that has called, sent emails, cards and gifts, it truly means alot and made us feel closer to home :)
The past few months we have been housesitting for an english lady that went travelling and in doing so took on the responsibility of mothering her 2 cats, Millie and Rupert. So we have been enjoying the role of surrogate motherhood which involved, feeding, lots of cuddles and cleaning up poo and sick! The last being Dal's favourite :) inbetween working, getting fit at the gym and the occasional sightseeing.
Maz won us both a trip up the east coast through a competition with TNT magazine! So we have been busy planning our itineary and will be saying our goodbyes to Sydney in the early hours on the 26th Jan to begin our adventure which we are both REALLY excited about as it has lots of activities thrown in aswell such as sailing, kayaking, bush camping, scuba diving and more! It all ends in Cairns where we have booked a flight onto Bangkok on the 25th February to explore SE Asia :)
Christmas was spent with an italian family, not the usual turkey, sprouts and trimmings we are used to back home, instead we had an amazing spread of mostly seafood, salads, pastas and of course, alcohol! Finishing off with a lovely fruit Pavalova. With 4 children running around, presents everywhere, it really felt like christmas, except for the warm weather of course!
During the holidays we moved to a new apartment based near the airport. We have our own ensuite bathroom (very handy when your sharing with 2 guys!) Within the complex we also have access to a gym, swimming pool, sauna and spa so we are making the most of our last few weeks in Sydney by spending it in luxury before we get back onto the backpacker trail.
New Years Eve was spent with our friends at a lookout point in Balmain where we had a fantastic view of the Harbour Bridge in all its glory. We got there at 10.30am to secure our spots and with no cover from the strong sun it was a very long and tiring day! Alcohol eased the pain somewhat :oP Maz managed to lose a flip flop in the water, not wanting it to be lonely she threw in the other and spent the rest of the day barefoot! The first set of fireworks went off at 9pm followed by the grand finaly at 12pm, at which point, there was alot of singing, kissing, hugging and phone calls home. Definately one to remember :)
Again we would like to wish you all a fantastic new year and thank you for all your messages and support throughout our travels :)
Hopefully we will see you later in the year!
Lots of love
Maz & Dali xx
