Arriving into the port of Koh Tao was breath taking - it was absolutely gorgeous! Photos wouldn't be able to do it justice, though I did take a few.
Tom and I got off the ferry and to our delight, the hotel was only 5 minutes away. After a few wrong terms and a bit of snapping after our tiring overnighter, we finally found Baan Suan Ta Hotel, just off from the beach. It was pretty decent for a last minute booking and luckily we were able to check in.
The first thing we did was jump in the shower to properly wash off the sweat of Ayutthaya and the bus/boat. We then went in search of breakfast, which we found 2 minutes away in a cafe called Zest. We both had the French toast and bacon, which came out smothered in maple syrup - it was amazing! After a quick visit back to the hotel to apply P20 we found ourselves a beautiful spot on a half deserted Maehaad beach and enjoyed a rather leisurely day tanning, or in Tom's case, burning!
We went in and out of the sea as it was so hot, which was fairly relaxing even though it felt like bath water. It was crystal clear so could see all the sea life and coral so easily, which was disconcerting at times as there were hundreds of sea cucumbers dotted around. They are harmless, but still slightly off putting when cooling off.
Jn the evening we went in search of food but struggled to find somewhere reasonable that sold Thai food rather than Western cuisine. Eventually we chose one, which was a shame as it wasn't particularly appetising. Tom's sweet and sour pork was more on the side of sour and my yellow curry which is supposed to be mild was really quite hot.
We cheered ourselves up by going down to a beach bar called The Whitening and enjoyed a Mojito and Amaretto Sour. We then picked up some beers from the 7/11 and retired to our hotel where Tom finally beat me at SkipBo, playing on our hotel balcony.
