We woke up to get ready for tubing to find it was monsoon weather yet again but thought it wouldn't matter as we were getting wet anyway. We located some dry bags from the shop opposite to protect our money and spare clothes in and then made our merry way to the tubing station with Henry, Sam and the 2 Essex lads.
When we had just paid for our tubes, a couple appeared and said that they had been yesterday and it was crap. We thought, oh cheers guys, way to spoil our fun before it started. Determined to make it amazing, bear in mind there were 2 of them and 7 of us we left in the truck to the start of the tubing course.
From a distance the water looked fast but as we got closer it wasn't so bad and we realised it was shallow anyway. Less than 5 minutes of bobbing along, we found ourselves in the first bar being hoisted in by bottles thrown to us by the bar owners. We were the first to arrive so there was little atmosphere but we received our first shot, a can of beer and sat ourselves down for a chilled out chat. Less than 30 mins later, the bar was nearly filled and some reps came along to organise a game of beer pong. A couple of games later and after meeting a group of 3 girls from Scotland and 1 guy from Scotland travelling with an Australian (Leitb and Adam) who seemed nice, we were playing our first game of FlipCup with about 30 people. I was at the end with Sam so the pressure was on us to do well - but we ended up winning twice in a row!
We then moved onto the second bar where Gemma ripped her feet to shreds playing football and me and Charlotte played with some puppies. In the third bar, we played another game of beer pong and chatted to more people. The river was getting a bit hairy so luckily I had a hand from a number of different people, including Adam who had seemed to latch on to me by the third bar, despite my best efforts to throw him off.
In the 4th bar, I abandoned him to find Henry who was quietly talking to 3 French girls. I could instantly tell there was a problem so went to find out what it was. Apparently a Laotian guide called Johnny had told them to search through bags for money and they had just taken Henry's cigarettes and money. They took it all and he caught them. Nonetheless, they carried on denying it until I got really angry and said they should sit down until we call the local police. They started looking scared then, took their tubes and disappeared down the river. They didn't arrive in the 5th bar so we assume they had scarpered! The 5th bar went really quickly and we were soon whisked away into a tuktuk back to the town. We sat in the bar we had eaten in before and I got approached by Adam again. An hour later he finally gave up and said goodbye after I told him over and over again how I had a lovely boyfriend already.
We went back to the hostel to get changed, went to a bar called Segura for a couple of hours and danced a bit. After an absolutely scrummy crepe on the side of the road (made in the same pan as a burger 3 minutes before) we finally called it a night and went to bed.
