The art of travelling:
Firstly, it all depends on the people you are with. As long as some one is good with money and somone else is sensible..you migth not die.
We left our hostel today and decided to stop being babies, and eat the stall food, being sold on the side of the road. I think it ended up costing us $2US for lunch for everyone, mmm and it was so good, rice and sweeet and sour vegitables with pineapple...yum. BONUS no one is sick yet..thank god...becasue i would not want to put my head anywhere near those toilets...yuk. The afternoon was spent tugging our backpacks around down town, onto the skytrain, the subway and eventually into the train station with four or so hours to kill. Passing time is definitely an art when you are travelling at the whim of train etc schedules. played a lttle cards, took turns watching the bags and going off to china town. By the time we ended up getting on the train everyone was glad we could relax and not have to watch our bags or anything, the only thing that was lame was that we ended uip not all being able to stay in the same car..i slept.
Having a feeling we are all going to be a little grumpy in the morning..it's 2am, but the sights of today are rolling around in my mind. Bangkok has a gigantic population of something like ten million. When you are downtown you wonder where all these people live, but as soon as you get on a train ride out of the the downtown area, you realize how it is. There are thousands upon thousands of shacks intermingling along the river. It's quite a sight. Probably a huge percent of the population living in these communal houses made of random materials. Our stop is at 4am, so i should make sure all our stuff is ready and wake the others up.
