Hi All!
Well, we had a lovely time in Chichiriviche - spent our last full day there on Cayo Pelon... which turned out to be a strip of sand about 50 feet by 20 feet in the middle of the water! Upon seeing that, we asked our boat driver to please pick us up earlier than planned... would?ve been a very long, very hot day otherwise! We were the first people there, which was pretty wonderful - blue-green water surrounding us, in the middle of the Carribean - reallybeautiful. We were quite excited to get going with the snorkling (the reason we chose this island) and very very disappointed to discover that our masks were massive (they came in a package, so we couldn?t try them on first) and there was no way to make them fit. Boo. As the day went on, more and more people showed up, to the point, in the afternoon, where it was hard to believe that everyone would actually fit on the cay. Happily, there was a man there in the morning renting out umbrellas, or I would be a very red girl right now in a whole lot of pain! The only dark spot on the day was an extremely obnoxious couple who chose to set up a massive tent right in front of us (half covering Erika) late in the afternoon, taking away our little patch of beach and stranding us in the middle of the cay. b*****s.
Wandered around for the evening, ate yummy ice cream.... Erika pimped me out at a CD stand, where the guy who ran it (who?d hissed/whistled at me a few times in the preceding days) went on and on about how beautiful I was, how he was so sad we were leaving in the morning, blah blah blah, and then gave us free CDs. I told Erika I?d be useful for something!
Left our lovely Posada on Saturday morning, with many goodbyes from the woman who runs it, and many thanks from us for our clean room and her hospitality and our laundered clothes (my shorts are no longer on the verge of rotting - yay!).
Oops - just got a message that this place is closing in a few minutes, so this will have to be finished later! Off to Mochima Park tomorrow, and hopefully there?ll be more internet there.
