Erica's Travels
Right where do I start its been a while.
Anyway, on the 7th October we flew into Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City. The view from the plane showed how large the Mekong Delta river really is across Vietnam..any believe me it doens't look any cleaner from a distance.
Once we arrived got a taxi to our hotel (Bi Saigon) and got dropped off on the other side of the road...well would you believe it, trying to cross the road with hundreds of mopeds heading towards you is quite difficult...so after a lot of hmmmmm what shall we do...oh I know lets walk to the end of the road and hope the traffic lights allow us to cross over...oh thats right there are no traffic lights here!
So plan b in action, just go for it...after a couple of days you get use to putting your life on the line and crossing the road..basically you just dodge them and they dodge you!
Then spent the next 15 minutes trying to find our hostel which ended up being down this alley...yes I said alley and believe me first impressions are a bit shocking. But once inside it was a lovely hotel and the people were very friendly .
The kitchen was opposite and you could watch them cook your food in a small area...doesn't follow hygiene mind you but the food was very nice and of course cheap! They are most famous for their Pho noodlge, basically its a broth, with noodles, meat, corriander, and ginger and I have to say lovely.
We have gone to the Cu Chi Tunnels, Mekong Delta, MyTho, Can Tho, and of course walked around Saigon city.
Must admit would of liked to of spent more time in Saigon but hey you can't do it all!
We have now taken the night bus, which I have to say was very uncomfortable and long...to Mui Ne...so watch for the next post card!
