Erica's Travels
We managed to find a bus company that would get us to Da Lat in under 6 hours, which is what they orinally stated.
We ended up getting there within 3 hours, and by which means was the driver was a total nutter and managed to get the mini bus round some serious bends without breaking...hmmm interesting!
Anyway we drove through the mountains and had some nice views and got the opportunity to see the real Vietnam.
Strange in some ways as you will see many old huts/houses that look like they are about to fall down and then right next door you will see a new 3 storey house with a french feel to it. I believe the property isn't that cheap here compared to what they earn.
Anyway Da Lat is a lovely place which does have a French charm to it. After walking round the town and the lake we decided to book a two day trekking trip.
Day one walk through the forest and then soon realised had to walk up a mountain...which I must admit looking at it with panic is all I could do at the time..and it was hard work...and had to stop quite a few times along the way just to muster up enough breadth to move on without dying there and then!
Basically we walked 13k the first day, which was mostly uphill and then the second day we walked 17k, which was mostly through jungle.
I did manage to make it with some several falling on the arse situations and putting my foot in mud...and falling off a log...so overall I didn't do too bad!
Once we arrived at our camp at the end of the first day we did see elephants and the lake was lovely...as you can see from the post card picture.
We slept in a tent...which I might add was bloody cold and froze my t*** off all night!
The food was fantasic and the scenery lovely...so oveall Da Lat is a lovely place to visit...however the climate is colder compared to the rest of Vietnam.
After Da Lat we got on another bus and headed towards Nha Trang which is a coastal town. The bus journey took over 6 hours and once we arrived it pissed down...and when I say this I mean it! The roads were over flowing with water!
After 2 days we decided to head for Hoi An and got on a bus for 12 hours which wasn't too bad...but the horn beeping got a bit annoying after a while
Hoi An is also a lovely town...very old with loads of charm. Nice restaurants and lovely to walk round with a nice lake.
As it was carrot's bday we stayed in a nice 4 star hotel which was a nice change for once.
The view overlooking our balcony was the rice fields. These photos will be updated in a mo...so watch this space1
Anyway bye for now and for those of you wondering why its taking soo long to update the site its because the internet is very sloooowwwww here and its too annoying to update...but will as and when I can gather the patience to do so!
Pea and Carrot...oh and yes you guessed it..pea is updating site as I get all the great jobs!...
