Ems and Steve Travelling
Hey!
So we arrived in Cairns about 1.30pm and checked into our hostel! We then went for a walk and had a look at other hostels to stay when we get back from Cape Tribulation! Then we found the lagoon and chilled by that for a bit - it strated to get a bit windy though so we went into Piers Mall for a bit of retail therapy! We found an amazing shop (well we thought it was anyway) which sold loads of Surf Lifesaving Australia merchandise! I bought a really nice hoody, a towel (cannot cope with my sports towel and sarong any more)and a keyring. Steve bought a towel, hoody, t-shirt and cap (if he wears it together people might think hes on duty!) Chuffed with ourselves we went back to the hostel and and a shower! We took our Rose from Hunter Valley that we have been lugging around with us for ages to a nice restaurant called the Raw Prawn. I had grilled prawns (yummy) and Steve had Crocodile, Camel, Kangaroo and Ostrich! He reckoned the camel was a bit tough and Crocodile doesn't taste like chicken! The ostrich was the best! The people on the table next to us had a live lobster (it was still moving!) which cost $100 (thats 40 pounds!)!
Today we went on a boat to the Great Barrier Reef (the only living thing visible from space)! It took 3 hours to get there but when we did we went snorkeling and saw loads of fish and coral (no sharks to my relief!). We got back on the boat and had lunch then moved to the next dive site where we saw a turtle! On the way back it was really rough and we both felt a bit ill but made it back all in one piece!
We go to Cape Tribulation tomorrow thats the rainforest at the top of Australia (its the 2nd largest in the world - 1st is Amazon) and the most Northerly point we will go! Don't worry Robert I won't forget to take a picture for you!
Speak soon! Ems and Steve xxx
