Day 2- Tuesday, Chris got us up at 6 am and we had a cooked breakfast on the campsite which was much needed after our scare from the snake the night before!
We then got into the trucks and set off to cruise around the island and along the beach, we went to visit many places, the first stop was Lake Wabby which was in the middle of the desert so it took some good walking to get there! when we got there we lay on the sand and then swam in the lakes to cool of, the sand dunes were absolutley massive.
We then got back into the trucks and drove along the Beach highway, with the windows down and singing some songs, Chris took us to the Champagne pools, which were pretty cool, and we swam there too, then it was time to go and climb a massive rock called Indian head, which is aboriginal as the island is aboriginal and we climbed right to the top and looked over the sea to spot some animals, and we saw some sting rays and some sharks!!
After this it was time to head back to camp, and Chris made us sausages and burgers for dinner, so we had plenty of food which is good! We had a bonfire at this campsite as it was just off the beach and no longer in the rainforest, and so we could have a campfire and we toasted marhmallows! It was yummy.
It was a very clear night, so Chris asked us if we would like to get in the truck and go down to the beach because you can see the milky way so clearly and you can see the centre of it, so Vicki, Becca, Kim and me did, with a couple of the others, and then the rest of the group wanted to come to, so Chris went back up to fetch them and he said he would be back in 3mins, which was fine, although there are such things on Fraser Island called Dingoes.
Dingoes are wild dogs and like wolves they are pack animals, and if you come into contact with them you have to stay as a group and just make eye contact with them and keep staring at them so they dont attack you. Anyway I was quite scared of these, But chris was only going to be 3 minutes and we were a big group, but as soon as he drove away 2 dingoes approached us!!! we quickly formed a line as you must never turn your back on them or scream or run (so this was very difficult for me!!!) Vicki had to hold me tight to make sure I didnt scream or run as they would go for us, there were 2 of them and they came close to us but we were in our group and Chris had taught us Dingoe safe rules and we did them and luckily they sniffed around us a little bit, did a poo and then they walked off and just at that point Chris came back down in the 4x4 with the others so it was ok!!!! but very scary and I knew I could not scream even though I wanted to otherwise they would probably have us!
We then headed back to camp and sat chatting in the evening, in the night I needed the toilet and it was very dark so I ventured out and I managed to somehow walk straight through a spiders web so I had to make sure it was all off me and that was very scary too! then we finally got to bed before another early start on wednesday morning!
