Hi folks,
April is here and Summer is over, down here anyway. The change of seasons has brought me some very good fortune. After complaining about my job I decided to do something about it. I am always one that hates when people complain about something and do nothing to resolve their situation. So after a particular annoying day I got online and looked for a new job. After a couple of phone calls I had an interview arranged for the next day and within a week I had found a new job! It just shows you that when you put your full dedication to something you can resolve it very fast, either that or I am just bloody lucky.
I decided that I had had enough of responsibility and that I just wasn't been paid enough to be expected to do so much. I broke it down to the fact that I am on holiday man! So I applied for a telesales job; nice cushy hours, very little responsibility, and better money.? When I went along to the interview I was offered a team leader position instead! So once again I am in a position of responsibility. However, I am being paid $18k more a year and am working for a great company, Tegel Foods, and have a good team under me. It is just a great feeling to have your ideas put into place rather than shot down. So far I have restructured the team and promoted three people. All business baby! I have decided that I would like to stay in NZ and working for such a company would be a pleasure and also would provide me with some career options.
So, as always my plans have changed about my career and my future. You just gotta be flexible dude! Saying all of that, if I can't get them [Tegel Foods] to sponsor me I am still off to Aussie. I think I am in a good position to get them to sponsor me as my boss so far is impressed with what I am doing and with my plans for the future. I have nice people in my team and I get along with all of them. My take on managing a team is to balance direction with humour. You can be a nice guy as long as everyone knows the boundaries and that if they mess around I will kick ass?The other big news is that I have met an absolutely amazing girl. Her name is Rachel and she is a Kiwi. I could spend hours describing how fantastic she is but that still would not do her justice. As soon as I get around to uploading all my pics I will put some of her up as well. However, be warned she is extremely gorgeous! We are having a great time getting to know each other and have planned some trips around NZ as well. Anyway, point being that she is really cool and super hot. She works as a Renal Nurse and keeps almost the same hours as me and so we get to see each other quite a bit. She is a very strong confident person and is into surfing and other adventure sports so we gel very well. God, I could spend all afternoon talking about her.
Other big goings on are that Greg and Helen are buying a house together and so big plans are a foot there. Helen is also going for a job promotion and we all wish her the best of luck with that. Shaun is heading back to the UK as he has to have an operation on his ankle and may be over there for some time. His job have said that if he wants to come back they will sponsor him so that is some really good news.
Ol' Foghorn Leghorn (aka Trent) is turning 31 this month so we had a party for that. Buying a present for another dude is always difficult (other than booze) so I thought of the perfect present. It's the kind of gift that keeps giving - Stripper Money! One of the many "Gentlemen's Clubs" is quite close to where he lives and has stripper dollars. As dollar coins are a bit difficult to slip into a thong they make their own money to help the gentleman show their gratitude for the lovely ladies. He seemed very happy with it. Not sure how much of them he has spent yet.
That weekend was quite a busy one as I also went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I would not consider myself a die hard fan but thought it would be cool to see them. The acoustics of the stadium were not the best but they still rocked the place with music from all of their albums. They also did a lot of jamming sessions which was great.
On the 25th of April it was ANZAC day. It is a war memorial day for all the fallen soldiers that died during WWII and every war there after. The service started at 5.30am for the sun rise and was quite moving. Other services were held all over the world. Rach and I went and met her folks there, but it was a very sobering service and given the early start time my conversational skills were not up to par. Afterwards we went back to mine and crashed out to a movie
That's all that really went on in April. If I have done this correctly, May's postcard and photo's going back to Jan should be on the site.
So until than, Love to you all, Em.
