All the elephants we saw in the Masai Mara seemed to be weeping. They have a gland on the side of their heads, which does make it look as though they are crying, and its usually a sign of emotion or stress. Was our presence causing them to be stressed? I hope not. It was early in the morning, just after sunrise. They seemed confident and at peace.
