I AM IN GLACIER COUNTRY.....
12,000 feet
45 second freefall
Falling 1 multistorey, skyscraper building every second
Mount Cook, Fox Glacier, Ocean, Woodland and Farmlan as your backdrop
I SKY DIVED 12, 000 feet!! The Parachute opened!! I am ALIVE!!! We drove to the take off location and got changed into jumpsuits etc... we then had a very brief briefing! During which we practised hanging out of the plan, crossing our harms ad then opening them...it went very fast! The plane was small and could only take 2 people at a time. Tania and i went 3rd...the wait was horrible! One girl came back having jumped and told us that she was sick in her glove, another came back with really bad ear ache..i was psyched! I had also just eaten a banana and a chocolate bar so when it came to our turn i made sure my glove was easily accesible! My instructor was a very funny and cheeky guy called Sudo...i was harnessed to him and in the plane it vertainly was a very tight squeeze..Tans was with a lady called Emily and was set to jump first. The plane took off and the dvd camera started rolling...the view over the glacier was breathtaking. We fleew over Mount Cook and Mount TAsmain (the two highest peaks in NZ) and through the clouds. The sky was bright blue and as the ground moved further away the view became even more spectacular. 1000 feet....5000 feet...7000 feet... 10000 feet....11000 feet
12,000 feet!!!Heart was beating fast, not with nerves but adrenaline...i was so excited! The door flung open and Tans sidled over to the opening until she was haning out of the plane..she was so brave!3 seconds later she was gone! 2 seconds later there i was body dngling out of the plane, waving at the camera on the wing and praying for my life!1..2..3.. release...we went tumbling out of the plane at an incredible speed!I backflipped as i opened out my arms and somersaulted uncontrollably then fell for 45 fast seconds!I LOVED IT!!!!I coaght flashes of the plane, then the ground, then the sky, then the instructor and then suddenly i jumped upwards as the parachute OPENED!!5 seconds later i exclaim..'the parachute opened...we are alive!' My instructor loosened my harness so i could get my camera out and i dropped a bit..i thought i was faling..panic!i was being melodramatic!!For the next five minutes we glided around in the parachute, swirling in the air and admiring in awe theincredible scenary!all i could say was AMAZING and i just could not stop smiling! When it came to landing i lifted my feet up and glided along the grass and stopped incredibly smoothly, calmly placxing my feet safely on the ground! My kegs were so wobbly...i could not stop smiling!!
