We arrived in Hallstatt in the Austrian Alps on Monday. Its so beautiful! Reminded me a lot of NZ in one way but also very different at the same time. Its one of the top UNESCO world sites. We got there in time for a sunbake and swim but by god the water was FREEZING!!!!! Took your breath away! You could tell we were in the mountains as when the sunset it got instantly cold....hmm this wasnt in the emma and kathleen brochure! Tuesday morning we got up and went for a walk - well mini hike really. I looked totally out of place... everyone had their hiking boots and poles etc... then here I come, shorts and cardi, converse sneakers and long pink and black striped socks up to my knees to protect me...oh and my handbag! Yes, I know I'm so cool..... It was a nice walk tho and we even got to build some cairns (rock formations)... with 100s ofothers in the river. We spent the afternoon sunbaking - again. And ate Pasta for dinner, again.... at this rate im going to get fat.
