Hello! A lot of beach action has been had since our last blog in Bangkok!
Left Bangkok via over night train to Surat Thani, unfortunatley we left booking a little late and therefore ended up in a reclining seat carriage rather than sleeper one! The seats reclined pretty impressively but not much sleep was had as for some reason all windows were opened completely so we were freezing added to by the racket of being on the most rickety train ever! From there we transferd via boat to Haad Salad on the island of Ko Phangnan! Stayed in wee bungalos on the very nice beach and spent most of the time on the beach or in the bar/restaurant overlooking it! Did make it to the full moon party with our Irish friends we met in China! Cue flourscent paint, buckets and lots of dancing until 8am!
Next stop was Ko Samui curtosy of a very large caterman which somehow managed not to capsize despite its best efforts! Ko Samui was a little bit of a dissappointment due to rainy season taking effect but we did manage a bit of pool and beach time!
Next we headed to the west coast of Thailand which somehow managed to take us 13 rather than 7 hours! Highlights included the never-ending no air-con local bus, being abondoned in a random car park and then a crazy longtail boat where they charged us more coz the weather was so bad! Also quite interesting trying to get on these boats as they only come on shore to waist height cue wading out to them complete with all belongings! We did however make it to our next stop - Railay which was very lovely and looks very much like the caption photo above! Had a very nice 2 story cabin to ourselves up in the hills altho unfortunately this involoved a lot of stairs! Spent 4 days here visiting the 3 beaches and sampling the cocktails!
Last island stop involved a bit more boat action to bring us to Phi Phi Don a very pretty island a few hours south of Railay! Spent lots more time on the beach, in our bungalows pool (bath sized but overlooking the beach) and even climbed to the viewpoint to watch sunset! On our last day we went on a boat trip to Phi Phi Leh where we went snorkling, saw lots of monkeys and visited Maya Bay where they filmed the beach! Unfortunately instead of Leo DiCaprio, there were hundreds of Japanese tourists and their speed boats kind of ruining the view! Our longtail boat was however not allowed to enter the bay and instead we had to swim from our boat to some cliffs, climb up a dodgy ladder and then scramble over loads of rocks to get there! Luckily jaws did not appear despite Lindsay's concerns!
This morning we safely made it back to the mainland and are now in Krabi town for the night! Tomorrow we fly to Kuala Lumpar..............
