Sorry a little behind on the whole blog thing as we are now back in Bangkok and off to the islands tomorrow but thought we'd better write about our 30 day gap tour! Our tour consisted of 2 Americans, one Canadian, us and 10 English folk.
Spent the first week in Cambodia, starting in Siem Reap where we visited the angkor temples including one where tomb raider was filmed, dr fish where masses of tiny fish eat the dead skin off your feet (nice!) and angkor what? bar! While waiting for the sunset on top of one of the temples we noticed Emma's recently lost umbrella in one of the locals selling basket, our tour guide did manage to negotiate it back without a fee!! Also visitied a local hospital where we gave blood. In retrospect not the best plan when 15 mins later we were in a minibus with Lindsay head down, feet in the air to prevent any fainting episodes!
Next stop was Phnom Penh, highlight on route was sitting behind 2 monks on the local bus who found the Mr Bean DVD extremely amusing! Visitied the killing fields, genocide museum and took a cyclo tour of the city. A cyclo is basically a wooden chair attached to the front of a bicycle so a little scary when you pull out at crazy junctions!
Next was the beach town of Sihanoukville where we chilled on the beach, beat some english boy at 21's (very poor!) and went on a boat trip to bamboo island which was very pretty. Somehow our wee wooden boat managed to not capsize on route back despite the slightly large waves and tropical storm! Next stop vietnam ..........
