Hello people!
Well we arrived in Auckland on the 16th of September where we were met by Ann who took us to her place in Mount Maunganui for a few weeks. Slight detour on route to the mount when we got lost and ended up in Huntly!! Celebrated Anns 19th 21st birthday with a party in the Mount and then luging (downhill go-karting) in Rotorua! Rotorua is lovely but absolutely stinks of eggs (apparently sulpher)!
Have spent the last few weeks job searching, meeting Anns friends, attending bbqs, frequenting pubs, lepracaun curling and taking in the Mount's sights - the Mount itself, the beach, new world supermarket and the hot pools. Also spent alot of time walking up and down the main road, so much so that people started to recognise us! Our walking days are now over however as we have purchased a brand new 1992 Toyoto Starlet complete with large stick to hold the boot open! Have been cruising the streets and getting used to some crazy New Zealand road rules still a bit confused by who's meant to go first at some junctions!
New Zealand is lovely if a little behind did think of becoming an inventer for a bit when the physio job situation wasn't looking so good! A few notable things are the lack of heating, front loader washing machines, basins, Coronation Street being like 2 years behind, a sensible pick n mix system and swiss muesli! Plus jockeys haven't seemed to have figured out that they can sit on horses yet as they still sit in wee carts behind the horse medieval style!
Job news - After phone interviews on Monday and a nervous 2 day wait after some rambling about the Treaty of Waitangi during interviews we are now Physiotherpists at Greybase Hospital, Greymouth!! Sounds exoctic eh?!! The lonely planet refers to Greymouth as the way New Zealand used to be which is alittle worrying! There are a few pubs tho and a combined cinema and theatre - will let you know how that works! We are both delighted tho coz we didn't really have a plan B and the South Island looks amazing so will be taking in the sights at the weekends!
Keep in touch and hopefully now we're not moving around so much we might actually be able to catch up on the photo front! xxx
