Hello! we arrived in Shanghai on Monday afternoon after our 20 hour long train jounrey. In our sleeping compartment, we met two lovely businessmen who offered us beers, ham sausages and apples. we had lovely conversations via pictures and signs but they could not speak a word of english. Much better than our former aromatic roomates!!
Anyway, on our first evening we visited Nanjing road which is the main shopping area. Absolutely fantastic with all the lights. Its how we imagined something like New York to be.
Yesterday we went to the Bund and took a look at the river. We did the tourist underground where you got transported under the river to the other side on these little car things and the tunnel was full of flashy and neon lights. Very cool.
We saw the Pearl Tower and then went to the Jin Mao building. It is the highest hotel building in the world with 88 floors high and the hotel takes up from 54th floor to the 87th floor. The 88th floor was an observation deck so we decided to go up there and view Shanghai from a distance. And what a view it was!!
We ran into the swedish couple from Xian and Dave, a friend we met from our tour of the Great Wall. What a small country it is! We went for dinner with our english roommate where I (Emma) tried ducks tongue with asparagus. The ducks tongue was disgusting. Wont try that again.. I must say we are doing very well with our tans. it is at least 30 degrees over here everyday and the suncream is doing a fantastic job.
Booked our train tickets to Hong Kong. That leaves at half 12 midday on Friday and arrives around 6am Saturday. Hope you like the photos :-)
Loads of love xx
