Hey everyone!!!
All things are great here in beautiful Bali!! I have just spent the last 4 days in Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali and yesterday I moved to the gorgeous Gili Islands (next to Lombok). The weather here continues to be pschizophrenic (one minute its beautiful clear sunshine - with a very humid heat) and the next it is raining so heavily , you feel like your in a monsoon! haha !!
I have still been making sure that I get out and enjoy the scenery as much as possible. In Ubud I took a tour of the many beautiful Hindu temples, and saw the famous Balinese dance shows. The people here are lovely, they are mostly devout hindu and even though they are constantly pestering for "massage, transport, tour" etc.. when you politely say no .. they are still the nicest people and will happily sit and chat to you for ages about your country, job, etc etc.. The people are also stunners.. such a good looking race!! lol.
Being devout Hindu they are constantly making prayers and offerings to the gods. The hindu women are always busy. I stayed in a homestay in Ubud and the 5 women who lived there made 5 offerings a day.. these are made up of bits of flowers and fruit, on a banana leaf which they put outside the houses. Because of this , especially in the rain - there are bits of fruit and flowers all over the streets! lol.
One thing I noticed early on is that everyone in Bali has the same names.. whether they are male of female!! I asked about this, and every Balinese child is either named "Child 1 , Child 2, Child 3 or Child 4". Wayan, Made, Noyman, Ketuk.. if they have more than 4 they start the cycle over again. lol. This must make for lots of confusion. hahaha!
I am currently stupidly relaxed into a cycle of reading, eating, lying down and swimming! lush!!
Hope everything is good in the UK and Beijing!!!
