Hi everyone!!! Hallo from Bali, Indonesia!!
After a very breif jaunt in Singapore, I have now spent 3 days in Bali!! I arrived on Friday to Sanur, a sleepy beach town with a laid back surfers vibe!! The first day was crazy hot, and I just had enough time to explore a little and see some statues of Hindu gods/goddesses.Very beautiful, and very spiritual!! :)
And then... The next day I woke up to crazy loud rain! Lol.. and it hasn't stopped!! hahaha!! This is their hot period, but also their rainy period! lol. I have tried to make the best out of it though and still explored many places (with the help of my mahussive blue umbrella). Bali really is beautiful, and being mostly rainforest - for me, the rain almost adds something quite magical to it!! I wish it was sunnier, but I feel strangely peaceful and relaxed here in Bali, and the rain hasn't dampened my spirit at all!! Maybe its because I have lived in Beijing for 5 months and it hasn't rained once.. maybe (is it possible) that I missed it! lol.
Today I left Sanur for Ubud (visiting on route the Bali Zoo). Ubud is the cultural capital (more like small town) of Bali. It is where they filmed "Eat Pray Love" and it is definitely a chill out place. No bars/ or clubs - its at the foot of the mountains and many people come here for spa, yoga etc etc..Everything is quite cheap!
At the foot of Ubud is the huge "Monkey Forest" which is where I have just been! A big rainforest with hundreds of monkeys alongside temples and waterfalls. Really was stunning!! The monkeys are cheeky beggars, and I had bought bananas for them, so I was very popular! lol.
Food: Of course, I have to talk about food! lol. I am having a welcome break from Chinese food here, and eating Indonesia cuisine! lots of peanut sauce. My favourite dish is the famous Nasi Goreng. yummy yum.
Not much to report, I hope to do a tour tomorrow, and watch a traditional dance show tonight - so we shall see!!
Love u all!!!
