Emma's RTW Adventure
So here I am writing my first journal entry. I thought I should start now before I head off into the big wide world so that I'd remember how I felt before leaving.
At the moment I'm just extremely excited, and not at all nervous surprisingly.
Having been due to leave on 1st May, when I suddenly found myself unable to go it felt as though all my plans were ruined forever. However, with hindsight, I think it has been for the best...
I realise now that I was rushing things and trying to fit too much of the world into too short a time frame. Now, with a one-way ticket and no return date scheduled I am free to travel when and where I want to... No restrictions and no worries. Perfect!
My first stop will be Shanghai in China. I have heard many wonderful stories of this city and the photographs I have seen make it look spectacular. A perfect mix of picturesque old-world China combined with a sprawling multi-cultural metropolis of modern China. I can't wait!
I still question their local speciality of 'hairy crab' but hopefully in a few months I'll be waxing lyrical about the delights of Shanghai's cuisine... Watch this space!
My only slight worry is with regards to my ability to teach a hundred Chinese children in a cramped classroom with very limited resources.
However, my TEFL course is approaching and I am sure that will give me more confidence in my ability. I've just got to hope that I can pass the course as well as the Grammar Awareness Module. It is surprisingly hard!!! It's amazing how quickly you forget what you learnt at school!
Anyway... That is my first journal entry over with. Lots more to come over the next few years I'm sure.
