Well i have been in perth for two weeks and done so much, the first day i went to the red bull air race which is held on the river in the middle of the city. It was so much fun but the best part was the RAF jet that flew through and did a few tricks it was so loud being in a confined space, but well worth seeing. The race was good fun too and there was an all british final so it was good to see and i would love to go again.
The next day i moved down to Fremantle which is on the outskirts of the city but alot more chilled out, more my kind of place. I went for a walk up to kings park which has some amazing views of the city. On the wednesday we went out whale watching the worst experiance ever as it was so rough. The weather wasnt great the first week so i didnt do that much just got to know my way around the city, drove about abit and had a look at the local beaches with all the crazy kite surfers it doesnt look easy.
The weekend the weather was better so on the saturday went to a wildlife park, it was nice to see all the animals but they werent interested in people. In one of the barns they had around 80 guinea pigs in one pen. On the way back we stopped off at a pet shop and there were some huge puppies they were blue healer cross hunterway and they weighed a tone at 8 weeks old. The next day we got the boat over to rottnest island and hired bikes, it was good fun because we met up with some people from the hostel. The island is like a little desert island and as i found out quite big, the beaches are amazing white sand and the water looks great, but it wasnt that warm so i just sunbathed when we stopped but was happy it wasnt too hot as it would of made to cycling even harder. By the end of the day i was knackered and had jelly legs real bad, but we saw two snakes which were a brown colour always a bad thing but no one got bitten, lots of skinks which are a lizard and only one bob tail who try to bite you as you go by even if your no where near.
The next week i spent most of it cloud watching on the beach but i did work for one day down at the port for a well posh ship helping load and unload bags for passengers getting on and off, but it was the easyest days work ever and the pay wasnt too bad. The ship had come all the way from Los angeles and was on its way back, it was full of old people who were a real good laugh and gave good tips. So that wasnt a bad start to my working visa in australia.
Then on the weekend we went out sea kayaking, we hired single kayaks and got to follow the tour who had paied alot more that us. It was quite windy and the paddle across to penguine island wasnt that easy but i made it. Then the tour guides let us tag along with them as they walked around the island where we saw a skink having a stand off with two sea gull who had two older chicks behind them it was quite amazing to watch the skink trying to get close to the chicks who were almost the same size as the adults. We saw where the pelicans nest and there were loads of them they are huge birds its hrad to belive they can fly, also there were lots of other birds with yound on the island and we managed to see one wild fairy penguine who was hiding under the board walk. We go taken to see the penguine feeding which we should of paid for but didnt because they asumed we were with the group. It was funny to see the fairy penguines as some of them are so fat as they are changing feathers. then it was back in the kayaks i got to go in with one of the guides as it would of been hard for me to paddle back against the wind by myself which was fine by me. We went around shagg rock were all the shaggs live and it doesnt smell too pritty then on to sea lion island where one was asleep on the beach and looked dead but did move to have a look at all of us going by, unfortunately it was the only one we could find before heading back to the shore. I was so glad on the way back i was with some one because it wasnt easy when there were two paddling.
Today is my last day in perth before heading up the coast to broome on a 10 day trip which should be great fun.
