Back when I was living in Lincoln, England my landlords, Chris & Dave recommended a place for great breakfasts- The Keltic Kitchen. As if by magic ( or once again my travel destiny) I'd called in to refuel the car ( at only $4 a gallon) and there, just next door was the place they'd suggested I try.
In true solo-road-tripper style I sat at the bar to eat a mountain of french toast washed down with fresly squeezed O.J. . Thanks for the tip off Chris and Dave!!
I followed the scenic route 6A, as recommended by Lois, to the northern tip of the Cape, Provincetown. Seeing the memorial to the Pilgrims on board the Mayflower ship made me regret nott researching more of the history of the site prior to leaving my home in Boston, England.
The weather was dissappointing. Cape Cod has been somewhere I've wanted to visit for so many years and the images in my head of the place was not the reality. It seemed to be a missed opportunity for fantastic photography on the sand dunes and beneath the towering lighthouses. Still- an opportunity may arise to return one day.
Eat lobster has been on my list of things to do before I turn thirty. According to people in this part of the world (although perhaps a little bias) the lobster here is the best in the world. The very camp maitre de (well afterall we are in Provincetown) led me by my hand to my table. I order an appetiser of Lobster and avocado salad followed by an entree of tuna. Superb! Taste lobster before I'm 30....DONE!
Only a couple of weeks into my trip I still not posess the skill or willpower to resist the temptation to buy the things I want. It was impossible therefore to leave the arty town of P-Town without first purchasing a limited edition print called "Road to Enlightenment" by artist Thomas Barbe. Who knows how long it will be before I'm rewarded by it hanging on the wall of a place I call "home" . xxxx
