I woke up far more hungover than I'd expected to be - maybe even still drunk! Liv and I realised that we actually hadn't made any plans as to where we were moving into next and were to be checking out in a few hours. We made an impressive breakfast for travellers in a hostel, consisting of freshly baked bread, scrambled eggs, avocado, pesto and tomatoes - a perfect start to the day - and decided that we should move onto Costa Rica's infamous cloud forest region in Monteverde to experience it's biodiversity before leaving for Mexico on Monday.
We spend the day chilling out, as we had been for the past few days, and decided it was a good day to be relocating as the entire morning it stormed with torrential rain. As the storm passed the sun came out stronger than ever and we sat outside taking it all in before getting on the bus to San Jose. With hurricane season in full swing on the Caribbean coast, the storm picked up again and we got stuck in horrendous traffic on a boiling hot and crowded bus, so didn't reach San Jose until pretty late. We checked in at Casa Del Parque Hostel which was a very bizzare place to stay. It was an old colonial Costa Rican mansion with an odd atmosphere and sort of reminded me of Cassa De Raffles (the horror hostel) that Emily and I had stayed at in Indonesia!
We were told it was quiet time when we arrived and that everybody was getting to bed, so we ended up sat in the TV room watching "I know what you did last summer" just the two of us. The whole upstairs of the mansion was the dorm, with lots of equally spaced single beds and it really felt like an infirmary or a ward or something. It was all very weird, but on the plus side there was a huge TV with English movies that we made the most of!
